AAT publishes 2008 annual financial report.

Monday, April 20th, 2009

2008 was, according to the AAT themselves,  “an exciting and successful year for the Association with a 6.1% increase in total membership, the launch of our first computer based exam and the creation of AAT South Africa.”

The article continues, “Although planning for a deficit, we have continued to maintain a strong financial position thanks to the successful application of stringent financial policies. Our reserves have been maintained at a level that provides protection against risk and the funding of future developments - despite the decline in the value of the investment assets held.”

AAT recognised with Best Companies award

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Staff at the AAT are celebrating its commendation as ‘first class’ in Best Companies’ employee engagement awards. Best Companies Accreditation awards an elite ‘Michelin style’ star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement. The AAT has achieved, at its first attempt, the much coveted one star status meaning that it is a ‘first class’ organisation to work for.

Jane Scott Paul, Chief Executive, says: “This is wonderful news for the AAT and everybody associated with us. We put the welfare and happiness of employees at the top of our agenda because we know it helps us to improve the service and support that we give to our members and other customers. This is reflected in the huge strides that we have been making over the past year.”

CIPFA invites members to AAT council roles

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

CIPFA is inviting institute members to express an interest in various AAT posts:

Since the AAT was formed in 1980, each of its sponsoring bodies has been entitled to nominate three of its own Members to serve on the Council of the AAT. In addition to the substantial contribution our nominees make to the governance of the AAT, CIPFA is proud that five Presidents of the AAT have been Institute members, the most recent being Trevor Salmon. This year’s representatives, who have all now served  three annual terms, are Sarah Wood, Anne Britton and Mike Evans, and the Institute Council pays tribute to the highly-valued contribution they have made to the AAT on our behalf in that time.

CIPFA has an established protocol for the annual selection of its three nominees, and the process is the responsibility of the Institute’s Nominations Committee. It is now inviting Institute members to express interest in the posts; so that the highest level of communication can be maintained with the AAT, one of the three nominees must also be a current member of the Institute Council.
