We have an opportunity for a two to three year work term in Canada in a large publicly traded organization. This role is responsible for complex and advanced technical support in accounting policy development and financial reporting. The successful applicant will make recommendations for process and policy improvements and play a lead role in reviewing financial statements against GAAP and IFRS standards, ensuring internal processes are in compliance with emerging financial practices. The incumbent will also develop project plans and develop and deliver training programs related to accounting policies and changes.
Main responsibilities include:
• Developing and documenting accounting policies and procedures;
• Performing GAAP and IFRS analysis;
• Advising finance team with respect to GAAP and emerging IFRS; and
• Project management to include plan development and reporting on progress.
Applicants must have a professional accounting designation and proven experience in a publicly accountable organization or public accounting firm. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, implementing accounting guidelines, financial project management, and the ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret data in coming to effective recommendations are essential to this role.
