Cash Allocation Clerk - Watford, Hertfordshire

Your duties will include the following:
• To promptly and accurately allocate cash against customer accounts on a daily basis
• To ensure that once cash is in the bank, it is always allocated from corresponding customer remittance advices, or on receipt of written advice from customer or on written authority from Credit Manager. To never allocate cash against oldest invoices or on any verbal instruction.
• To ensure that all amounts received in the bank are identified, and, in the case that they are not identified, call the bank to acquire detail. In cases where the bank can not provide sufficient detail, record the outstanding amount as unreconciled and maintain an ongoing report of the unreconciled amounts.
• To assist the credit controllers in clearing the backlog of unallocated cash, by calling customers to acquire remittances.
• To build and maintain good relationships with clients
• To review unreconciled report on a regular basis with UK Accounting Manager and/or Head of Group Credit
• To show progress on a monthly basis in reducing, and ultimately maintaining, unallocated cash amounts to a minimum level
• To number and maintain filing of all remittances on a daily basis
Reporting
• To produce monthly and ad hoc reporting for the Acting Head of Group or UK Finance Director within the required timescales

Miscellaneous
• To perform any other duties related to the department as required by the Head of Group Credit

Experience: Experience of cash allocation is a necessity.
The ability to prepare basic reports in Excel is also a pre-requisite.
Ability to work quickly and accurately with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
