CONTROLS EVALUATION ASSISTANT - Dorking, Surrey
Our client, a leader in their field is seeking a Controls Evaluation Assistant to work at their fantastic offices in Dorking.
This role will support the Controls Evaluation Analyst in their responsibilities for achieving Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and assessing and improving risk management processes in the business.
This role will provide the individual with the opportunity to work in the detailed Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts and assist in creating a more efficient and better controlled financial reporting environment throughout the business. This position offers substantial exposure to most of the key areas of the business, and opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the internal processes
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be the key UK administrator for the Stellent SOS software, ensuring that users are using it appropriately and providing assistance when necessary;
2. Organise and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley working papers using Stellent and other means;
3. Assist the Controls Evaluation Analyst in administrative duties for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including project tracking, costs and status updates (both U.K. and U.S.);
4. Demonstrate, through high quality working papers, remedial actions required to improve control effectiveness on assigned key processes. test and conclude on the effectiveness of those actions taken;
5. Be a key liaison with the business to provide assistance and advice related to modifications to key evidential documentation;
6. Create Sarbanes-Oxley compliance communication reports for review by the Controls Evaluation Analyst and/or the Controls Evaluation Manager;
7. Administer the completion of the Sarbanes-Oxley s302 (quarterly) and s404 (annual) certifications , reporting to the Controls Evaluation Analyst on any changes to key controls;
8. Assist in supporting the evaluation of key business process changes, ensuring that changes are documented and impacts on controls identified.
The role holder is expected to take ownership of the review and remediation of assigned key processes, as well as assist the Controls Evaluation Analyst in the day-to-day activity around the Sarbanes-Oxley attestation project, including both section 404 and section 302 compliance efforts. They should be very proactive and must be diplomatic as they will be required to extend their efforts throughout various parts of the organisation to build relationships and obtain in-house client buy-in to the SOX process. They should possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to present and communicate effectively across all levels within the company and with external auditors.
Basic knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley regulation and traditional audit experience are required, and experience in financial services, the insurance industry in particular, is advantageous.
Minimum Criteria
Accounting discipline with audit experience;
Active participation in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts;
Experience with project-work.
