Job Title:		Financial Accountant

Description:		Be a major force in a major force… Sussex Police is one of the country’s largest forces. We are based in the historic county town of Lewes in the heart of Sussex Downland. Joining a stimulating and highly-focused department, you’ll have management responsibility for a full range of financial activities. The scope of your work will include Financial and Capital accounting, provision of accurate and efficient payment and debtor service and ensuring our policies act as the cornerstone of high quality financial governance. Above all, we’re looking for someone with personal drive and professional knowledge to act as a credible, and dedicated team leader. This role offers a CCAB qualified accountant a remarkable opportunity to have a genuine impact on the development of a modern finance team. You should be able to demonstrate: ·Experience of preparing local government statutory accounts, financial monitoring returns and managing the year end closedown process. ·Experience of balance sheet and control account management, with knowledge of exchequer functions and VAT. ·Significant public sector senior management experience and a proven understanding of financial accounting procedures, regulations and systems including relevant SORP’s and the Prudential Code. ·A full accountancy qualification (ideally CIPFA) and at least 3 years post qualification experience is expected, together with excellent IT and communication skills.
